Gyumri and Parakar local elections results finalized

The Central Electoral Commission has confirmed the final results of the March 30 snap municipal council elections in the communities of Gyumri and Parakar.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), during its April 6 session, Territorial Electoral Commissions No. 14 and No. 31 validated the outcomes of the local self-government elections held on March 30.

In the Parakar community, 11,528 voters participated out of 20,967 eligible citizens. An additional 37 voters were added to supplementary lists on election day.

The votes and mandates were distributed as follows:

  • Civil Contract Party: 3,669 votes, 7 mandates
  • Unity bloc: 6,508 votes, 12 mandates
  • National Progress Party: 900 votes, 2 mandates
  • Stability Party: 426 votes, no mandate

There were 23 invalid ballots and 6 reported irregularities.

In Gyumri, 47,434 voters participated from 111,236 eligible citizens, with 35 voters added via supplementary lists.

The distribution of votes and mandates was:

  • Civil Contract Party: 17,188 votes, 14 mandates
  • Communist Party of Armenia: 9,727 votes, 8 mandates
  • Country to Live Party: 1,695 votes, no mandate
  • Mother Armenia bloc: 2,904 votes, 2 mandates
  • Armenian Labor Socialist Party: 652 votes, no mandate
  • Euroalliance bloc: 2,113 votes, no mandate
  • Democratic Alternative Party: 1,407 votes, no mandate
  • Our City bloc: 7,380 votes, 6 mandates
  • My Strong Community Party: 3,739 votes, 3 mandates

There were 607 invalid ballots and a total of 69 recorded irregularities.

No single force secured a majority in Gyumri’s March 30 municipal elections. A coalition of opposition parties could appoint an opposition mayor. Four political forces ran in Parakar: Civil Contract (Ludvig Gyulnazaryan), Unity bloc (Volodya Grigoryan), National Progress (David Minasyan), and Stability (Gor Saribekyan). The leading force, Unity bloc, which includes the Country to Live Party, has declared the victory of its candidate Grigoryan.
