Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, speaking at the annual investment forum in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the rapidly evolving global order and described the current period as a pivotal and, in many ways, unpredictable chapter in history.
He stated that normalizing relations with neighboring countries is one of Armenia’s key priorities and stressed that the South Caucasus should transform into a region free of closed borders.
“Our country remains committed to the peace agenda, a vital part of which is the Armenian Government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative. It aims to foster regional peace and enhance economic ties. This project presents a unique opportunity for regional stability, economic growth, and the activation of international trade routes.
The central idea of the project is the development of communications—restoring, constructing, and operating roads, railways, pipelines, communication cables, and power lines. This also means creating opportunities for human contact, which is a key component of peace.
Unblocking all regional infrastructure in the South Caucasus, based on respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality, and reciprocity, will open exceptional opportunities for the movement of goods and people.
I firmly believe that peace in the region has no alternative. Moreover, the South Caucasus should become a region without closed borders, which in turn will deepen economic cooperation, promote interaction among people, and ensure sustainable economic growth for the entire region,” he said.
During the visit, meetings are also planned between Khachaturyan and senior officials of the UAE. He traveled to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
