President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, during his working visit to the UAE.
In his welcome remarks, Ghobash emphasized that “Armenians are known for their peacefulness” and are highly respected in various Arab countries.
“We deeply value this visit to our country and the Federal National Council. Such visits signal greater potential for deepening and strengthening bilateral relations. The Armenian people are a friendly nation. There are large Armenian communities in the Levant, Syria, Egypt, and other parts of the Middle East, and wherever they are, they are recognized for their professionalism, skillfulness, and integrity.
We welcome your country’s approach, which clearly reflects a commitment to peace—both domestically and in the region. We continuously support such efforts and aspire to similar practices,” he stated.
In response, President Khachaturyan thanked Ghobash for the warm reception and words of appreciation, saying, “Your hospitality reflects the strong friendship and partnership between our countries. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1998, our ties have steadily grown, as evidenced by around thirty signed agreements and high-level reciprocal visits that have aimed to further develop our relations. For Armenia, cooperation with the United Arab Emirates holds special significance.”
Both sides praised the friendly and cooperative relations between Armenia and the UAE, noting their consistent development. They emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly between parliamentary structures and friendship groups. They agreed that mutual visits at various levels promote broader collaboration.
The necessity of establishing peace in the region was highlighted. In that context, President Khachaturyan stressed Armenia’s clear position: to build relations with neighbors based on peaceful coexistence and good-neighborly principles.
Speaking at the annual investment forum in Abu Dhabi, President Khachaturyan noted that the current world order is shifting at a dynamic pace and we are living through a historically pivotal and somewhat unpredictable era. He stated that normalizing relations with neighbors is one of Armenia’s top priorities and that the South Caucasus should become a region without closed borders.
