Moscow has urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to avoid any actions that could lead to increased tensions and instead focus on measures to de-escalate the situation. This statement was made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to recent comments by the defense ministries of both countries regarding the border situation.
“All issues must be resolved solely through peaceful, political, and diplomatic means,” Zakharova said, according to TASS.
The diplomat also noted that Russia is ready to support its partners in overcoming current disagreements on the path to signing a peace agreement. Moscow has also expressed its willingness to assist in processes such as the unblocking of transport links, demilitarization of borders, and resolution of humanitarian issues, based on the trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly disseminated disinformation claiming that shots were fired from the Armenian side. Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has consistently denied these allegations. The European Union monitoring mission has also refuted Baku’s claims.
