MoD: Baku’s statement on gun fire false, misleading

The Armenian Ministry of Defense has stated that Azerbaijan is once again spreading disinformation.

According to the Ministry, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s statement alleging that Armenian Armed Forces units opened fire at Azerbaijani positions in the northeastern section of the border around 11:50 p.m. on April 9 is false.

The Ministry recalled that the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia had proposed establishing a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations and related reports, a proposal to which Azerbaijan has not responded to date.

"The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia reaffirms its readiness—aligned with the position of the Prime Minister’s Office—to investigate the facts that supposedly support the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s statement, should those facts be provided to Armenia," the statement reads.

Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry has repeatedly published false claims about alleged gunfire from the Armenian side. Armenia’s Defense Ministry has consistently denied these accusations. The EU Monitoring Mission has also refuted Baku’s disinformation.
