At the European Wrestling Championships held in Bratislava, Armenian wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan won the silver medal after being defeated in the final.
In the gold medal bout, Harutyunyan lost 5–7 to Russian competitor Zaur Uguev, a two-time world champion and gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, Aysor.am reports.
Over the course of his career, Arsen Harutyunyan has become a three-time world bronze medalist and a four-time European champion.
Team Armenia placed fifth in the overall team standings in freestyle wrestling at the European Championship.
Arman Andreasyan, another member of Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team, also became a silver medalist at the championship. Vazgen Tevanyan secured a bronze medal.
