UEFA has fined the Georgian Football Federation €40,000 over incidents during the March 23 match against Armenia in Tbilisi.

According to the decision reported by Sputnik Georgia, Georgia’s next home fixture in the UEFA Nations League will be held behind closed doors.

UEFA also imposed a two-year probation period. If similar violations recur, the Georgian national team will again be forced to play without spectators.

Earlier, the President of the Georgian Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, condemned the behavior of the Georgian fans.

In the UEFA Nations League playoff return match, Georgia defeated Armenia 6–1. Immediately after the final whistle, a group of Georgian fans invaded the pitch, moved toward the Armenian supporters' section, and began throwing plastic containers at them.
