Issues of regional peace and cooperation were discussed in Tashkent between Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Hakob Arshakyan and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) President Pia Kauma. The meeting took place during the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
Kauma announced her upcoming visit to the region.
During the meeting, the parties addressed core issues related to peace and security in the South Caucasus. Arshakyan noted that while peace treaty negotiations are nearing completion, Azerbaijan continues to introduce additional preconditions, such as the formal dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. He said Baku uses artificial justifications to delay the process, casting doubt on its genuine commitment to peace.
Arshakyan also presented Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, emphasizing that unblocking regional transport and infrastructure links is a vital foundation for lasting peace.
Kauma reiterated the OSCE PA’s support for long-term stability and peace in the region.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation, with a focus on security, infrastructure unblocking, and related challenges in the South Caucasus.
