License now required to export Armenian cultural works

The Armenian government will now monitor and regulate the movement of works by notable Armenian authors, requiring licenses for export or temporary relocation.

A government decision introduces a list of prominent authors who passed away in the last 50 years, aiming to track and document the movement of their creative works. Under the new regulation, exporting such works will only be allowed with a cultural value export license or based on a conclusion granting temporary export rights.

According to the justification, the move will help maintain the legality of cultural heritage transfers and protect national cultural assets by establishing oversight mechanisms.

As a result, regardless of when these works were created, they will be classified as cultural values, and their export from Armenia will be subject to registration by an authorized state body.
