MP: Azerbaijan lays groundwork for aggression against Armenia

Tigran Abrahamyan, Secretary of the I Have Honor parliamentary faction, wrote on his Facebook page that Azerbaijan has resumed its targeted information campaign against Armenia after a brief pause.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is laying the groundwork for aggression against Armenia.

"The information war against Armenia has never ceased; I am referring to Azerbaijani false statements about ceasefire violations and attributing provocations to Armenia," Abrahamyan wrote.

He explained that Azerbaijan achieves several objectives through these actions:

  1. It convinces the international community of its supposed constructiveness by claiming it tolerates "Armenian provocations."
  2. It seeks to legitimize its recent acts of intimidation against Armenian communities over the past three weeks.
  3. It creates a pretext for future acts of aggression against Armenia.
  4. The entire process—from front-line realities to propaganda efforts—is designed to increase pressure during negotiations and extract further concessions.

"These four aspects are interconnected, and depending on the circumstances, each can become an active instrument," Abrahamyan concluded.

Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s defense ministry has issued multiple daily false reports about gunfire allegedly coming from the Armenian side. Armenia’s defense ministry consistently denies these claims. The EU monitoring mission has also refuted Baku’s disinformation and increased night patrols. Residents of Armenian border villages report hearing gunfire from the Azerbaijani side.
