Today, Armenia celebrates the First Republic Day. Defeating the Turkish army in the May 26 battle of Sardarapat, Armenian troops managed to prevent Turkish intervention in Transcaucasia and save Armenians from total extermination.

The country's top leadership, headed by President Serzh Sargsyan, laid flowers to Sardarapat memorial complex. After helping himself to the delicious food laid on table and talking to people, the President attended the festive concert.
