Hayk Mamijanyan, leader of the I Have Honor parliamentary faction, responded to criticism surrounding former President Serzh Sargsyan's recent speech by stating he does not comment on “nonsense.”
“I don’t comment on nonsense and don’t address it,” he said, as quoted by Aysor.am .
Mamijanyan added that Sargsyan’s remarks encapsulate the Republican Party’s 35-year legacy, especially its opposition efforts over the past seven years. According to him, all three priorities outlined by Sargsyan are realistic, given the Armenian people's potential. However, he emphasized that achieving them requires a change of government.
He also criticized a narrative allegedly promoted by the ruling Civil Contract party, which he said frames any provocation as an attempt to drag Armenia into war. “There were comments yesterday that echoed the Civil Contract propaganda: that Armenia has repeatedly been drawn toward war, the latest example being the depopulation of Artsakh. By that logic, God forbid there’s an attack on Gegharkunik or Syunik—will they stand boldly and say, ‘Armenia is being drawn into war,’ and simply refuse to be drawn in?” Mamijanyan asked.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan, commenting on Serzh Sargsyan’s statement referring to the people as having ‘kissed the forehead of a donkey from the herd’ in 2018, noted the temptation is great to draw further analogies involving the donkey.
