MP says 147 lawsuits filed over illegal assets

Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing 147 lawsuits related to the confiscation of illegally acquired property, totaling more than 600 billion drams—approximately $1.5 billion. This was announced in parliament by Hayk Konjoryan, head of the ruling Civil Contract parliamentary faction.

Konjoryan noted that these lawsuits seek the seizure of 1,496 real estate properties, 288 vehicles, and stakes in 391 legal entities, according to 1lurer.am.

Referring to recent local elections in Gyumri, where an opposition candidate won, Konjoryan emphasized that the Civil Contract party has experience with both victories and losses. In contrast, he said, the opposition lacks such engagement.

“Participate, win somewhere, lose somewhere, analyze your mistakes. But you can’t do that, because from the start, you’re a perfect 'Zhiguli',” Konjoryan said, likening the opposition to the outdated Soviet-era car model that never evolved.

On March 30, no political force gained more than 50% of the council mandates in the Gyumri elections. Opposition parties have declared their intent to support Vardan Ghukasyan, the opposition candidate with the most votes. The newly elected council chose Ghukasyan as Gyumri’s community head. The Civil Contract faction did not attend the vote.
