Hayk Konjoryan, head of the Civil Contract faction in Armenia’s National Assembly, met with a U.S. delegation led by James Carafano on April 16.
Carafano serves as senior counselor to the president of the Heritage Foundation. Konjoryan shared details of the meeting on his official Facebook page.
“During the meeting, we discussed Armenia-U.S. bilateral relations and strategic partnership, the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and regional security issues,” Konjoryan wrote.
The delegation also included former senior fellow at the Atlantic Council Kaush Arha and Adrian Zuckerman, former U.S. Ambassador to Romania.
On January 14, a strategic partnership charter between Armenia and the United States was signed at the U.S. Department of State in Washington. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed the document on behalf of Armenia, while U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken represented the United States. During the signing ceremony, Blinken announced that in the coming weeks, a U.S. team specializing in customs and border security will visit Armenia to work with local partners on strengthening border security capabilities.
