Former Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian wrote on his Facebook page that representatives of the ruling party, both in and outside the National Assembly, have recently made numerous public statements. According to him, the more tragic the consequences of their policies for the Armenian people, the louder their tone, speech, and behavior become.
“They know what they’ve done is unforgivable, and they fear judgment,” Oskanian stated.
“When one watches the theatrical performances of Pashinyan and his circle, it’s hard not to ask: Do they truly believe they can cause thousands of deaths, abandon and surrender Artsakh, concede Armenian territories, dismantle national spirit, misuse public funds, hold onto power through violence, violate the Constitution—and then simply leave one day, go home, and live normal lives?
Do they believe they can wash the blood off their hands and mask their failure, incompetence, and defeat with self-serving speeches and hollow bravado? If they truly believe that, they’re not just cynical—they’re deluded,” he wrote.
According to Oskanian, the ruling elite’s loud and inflated rhetoric reflects internal fear and guilt.
“Their efforts to embellish their public image, the scripted speeches, empty rhetoric, and exaggerated displays of courage are not signs of strength or conviction. They are manifestations of fear. They do not resemble people who stand confidently, believing history will vindicate them. They resemble the uneasy gestures of those who, deep down, know they are guilty—guilty before their people, guilty before the course of Armenian history.
Their exaggerated rhetoric is, in itself, a confession. They know what they’ve done is unforgivable. And deep inside, they fear the reckoning they know is coming. No cloak of invincibility can shield them from the verdict of truth or the justice that truth demands,” the post reads.
