Azerbaijan opens fire toward Khoznavar; a residential home is damaged
At approximately 10:20 p.m. on April 23, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire in the direction of the village of Khoznavar in Armenia’s Syunik Province, damaging a residential building, according to the Ministry of Defense.
No casualties have been reported.
The Ministry stated, “We call on the Azerbaijani side to investigate the shelling of the residential home in Khoznavar and to provide public clarification.”
The Ministry of Defense recalled that the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office had previously proposed creating an Armenia-Azerbaijan joint mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations or related incidents. However, according to the source, Azerbaijan has not yet responded to this initiative.
Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly spread disinformation about alleged Armenian-initiated gunfire. These claims have been consistently denied by Armenia’s Ministry of Defense and refuted by the EU monitoring mission.
