Pashinyan condemns burning of Turkish, Azerbaijani flags

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has condemned the burning of Turkish and Azerbaijani flags during the torchlight march organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation on April 23. The condemnation was conveyed by his press secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan, as reported by Armenpress.

According to Baghdasaryan, the Prime Minister views the act as irresponsible and unacceptable. “The burning of internationally recognized state flags, especially those of neighboring countries, is a provocative and inciting act and cannot be treated otherwise by the head of a state,” she stated.

In the same statement, Pashinyan also condemned gunfire from Azerbaijani armed forces targeting a residential house in the village of Khoznavar in Armenia’s Syunik province. He characterized the incident as a violation of the ceasefire and called on Azerbaijani authorities to investigate and clarify the event.

The traditional April 23 torchlight march in Yerevan, held this year under the slogan Never Deny included the burning of the Turkish and Azerbaijani flags by participants as a protest against denialist policies.
