The Armenian Genocide of 1915 opened one of the darkest pages of the last century. It reminds us that the destruction of a people often begins with silence, followed by denial. What history has produced once can happen again if we are not vigilant.

Even today, amid growing extremism and rhetoric that denies or diminishes past crimes, state institutions carry a responsibility to name the facts, recognize the truth, and preserve memory. Brussels must continue to stand by historical truth and fight all expressions of denial,” Weitzman said.
