107 letters proposing Pashinyan impeachment delivered to NA

A total of 107 letters proposing a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have been submitted to the National Assembly’s reception, individually addressed to each MP. The initiative was carried out by the We Are Awake movement.

Public and political figure Edgar Ghazaryan, speaking to reporters, emphasized that they had not named a specific candidate for prime minister, stating that selecting a candidate is the right of the participating MPs. According to Ghazaryan, a decision on the matter is expected within the next ten days, reports Pastinfo.

"The institution of individual parliamentary behavior is in effect. Civil Contract MPs are not oath-bound cult members with brainwashed minds, but individual legislators who must demand that the government fulfill their program," Ghazaryan stressed.

He added that the Civil Contract parliamentary faction could express no confidence in Pashinyan and elect a new prime minister.

Narek Malyan, the head of public relations for the We Are Awake movement, noted that the impeachment process is currently the only realistic path to a change of government in Armenia. According to Malyan, there are Civil Contract MPs interested in the impeachment process, reports Sputnik Armenia.

Starting today, they plan to meet with Armenia's three former presidents—Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan—as well as representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).

"These meetings will be consultative in nature," Malyan explained.

He also said that the opposition field is completely free to propose a prime ministerial candidate, and the We Are Awake movement will unconditionally support any candidate they nominate.

If no candidate is proposed by the opposition, the movement will generate its own candidate and will only require opposition MPs’ signatures for endorsement.
