The official opening ceremony of Armenia’s Honorary Consulate in Singapore was held with the participation of dignitaries and guests. The event brought together Armenia’s Ambassador to Singapore, Serob Bejanyan, and Hon Mun Loong, Director-General for Europe at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Armenia’s Embassy in Indonesia.
Following the inauguration, a reception took place in the courtyard of the Armenian Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator. Speeches were delivered by Ambassador Bejanyan, Director-General Loong, and Armenia’s newly appointed Honorary Consul Tim Jin Cheng.
Ambassador Bejanyan emphasized the consulate’s significance for fostering deeper collaboration between Armenia and Singapore across various fields. Hon Mun Loong spoke about the Armenian community’s historical presence in Singapore and its valuable contributions.
In his remarks, Tim Jin Cheng expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and outlined his upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing economic and business ties between the two nations.
The reception was attended by ambassadors accredited to Singapore, members of diplomatic missions, government officials, representatives of the Armenian community, and business leaders.
National anthems of Armenia and Singapore were performed by Gayane Vardanyan, an Armenian singer residing in Singapore. The event concluded with a flower-laying ceremony at the cross-stone memorial dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, located in the church courtyard.
