U.S. law enforcement agencies have arrested 13 individuals linked to rival Armenian organized crime groups operating in California and Florida, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The suspects face federal charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, illegal firearm possession, and large-scale fraud.
The arrests stem from a power struggle between two groups vying for control in Los Angeles County’s San Fernando Valley. Ara Artuni, 41, of Porter Ranch, and Robert Amiryan, 46, of Hollywood, are alleged leaders of opposing groups. Artuni is charged with ordering an attempted murder of Amiryan in summer 2023, while Amiryan allegedly conspired to kidnap and torture one of Artuni’s associates in June 2023.
Authorities allege that Artuni’s group, known as Artuni Enterprise, engaged in extensive cargo theft schemes, enrolling as Amazon carriers and diverting shipments worth over $83 million. The group also allegedly conducted bank and wire fraud, as well as credit card scams involving sham businesses.
During the operation, law enforcement seized approximately $100,000 in cash, 14 firearms, and three armored vehicles. The arrests are part of “Operation Take Back America,” a national initiative aimed at dismantling transnational criminal organizations.
If convicted, the defendants face sentences ranging from 10 years to life in federal prison.
