Minister Papoyan announces export arrangements enabling predictable, mutually agreed process for branded Armenian cognac shipments to continue smoothly.

During a mission to Tbilisi at Prime Minister’s direction, Armenia’s Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and RA State Revenue Committee head Eduard Hakobyan held high-level discussions with Georgian officials to address export obstacles. They met with Georgia’s First Vice Prime Minister and Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili, Agriculture and Environment Minister David Songulashvili, and State Revenue Service chief Irakli Beraya.

Following productive negotiations, an agreement was secured to immediately release 55 trucks loaded with Armenian-branded bottled cognac from the Gezi customs terminal. An additional 72 trucks will be cleared within the next seven days, followed by a further 24 trucks. Armenia commits to ensuring unhindered transit of these vehicles through Georgian territory.

Moreover, both sides agreed on establishing an organized export framework for Armenian cognac, based on mutually acceptable and predictable terms. Minister Papoyan stated that detailed results and next steps will soon be communicated to the business community through the proper channels.

Armenian cognac producers have repeatedly protested at the Georgian embassy in Yerevan over Georgian inspection delays, leaving trucks waiting for weeks at the border. Minister Papoyan had expected resolution after meeting Georgia’s Agriculture Minister David Songulashvili on June 6, though that visit was later canceled.
