2.9-magnitude earthquake recorded north of Spitak

On June 28 at 01:40 local time (June 27 at 21:40 GMT), a 2.9-magnitude earthquake was registered 8 km north of the town of Spitak, Armenia, according to the Seismological Network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. The quake originated at a depth of 10 km.

The tremors reached an intensity of 4 at the epicenter.

The earthquake was felt in the Lori province—in the town of Spitak and the villages of Lernapat, Arjut, Arevashogh, Darpas, and Gogaran—with an intensity of 2 to 3.

The seismic event occurred at coordinates 40.90° N latitude and 44.28° E longitude.
