Karapetyan lawyers pledge support for targeted ENA workers

The legal team of detained businessman Samvel Karapetyan promised legal and employment support to Electric Networks of Armenia workers facing politically motivated dismissals.

The legal defense council representing Samvel Karapetyan, a businessman held in custody for two months, announced that Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) employees threatened with dismissal under vague pretenses—especially due to their social or religious beliefs—should remain calm. According to the council, their labor rights will be restored, and they will be offered equivalent employment during the process, News.am reports.

Previously, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan warned that ENA employees who are “neglecting their duties to engage in political scheming” would be dismissed in July. He also stated that those forcing ENA staff to attend gatherings would be prosecuted.

Narek Karapetyan, First Vice President of the Tashir Group, announced a march in Yerevan planned as an act of protest. He called on the public to gather on July 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the Seasons (Malibu) Park on Mashtots Avenue, from where the demonstrators will proceed to the detention site of Tashir Group’s head, Samvel Karapetyan.
