Olympic bronze medalist and four-time European champion Hovhannes Bachkov has secured his eighth professional boxing victory, according to sport.news.am .
At the IBA Pro-7 Champions Night tournament in Istanbul, competing in the 63.5 kg weight class, Bachkov faced South African boxer Xolisani Ndongeni. He secured a win in the ninth round by knockout. With this victory, the Olympic bronze medalist claimed the IBA Pro championship belt.
In the ninth round, a punch from Bachkov forced Ndongeni to his knees. As the referee moved to start the count, Ndongeni’s corner threw in the towel, conceding the fight.
"I’m very happy I managed to win and earn this championship belt. Thank you to everyone who came to support me, and to those who couldn’t make it to Turkey," said Bachkov.
