PARTIES LED BY ETHNIC ARMENIANS ACHIEVED SUCCESS IN LOCAL ELECTIONS IN GEORGIA
According to provisional data, the opposition achieved considerable success at the local elections taking place in Georgia last Sunday. "National movement-democratic front" party led by ethnic Armenian Mickail Sahakashvili has won in many cities and regions. The Labor Party, "New Right" unifying president Shevardnadze followers and Christian-conservative party, in the list of which ex-speaker of the parliament, ethnic Armenian Zurab Jvania is the first, are among the leaders of the election race. Over 40% of the electors participated in the elections.
