First Lady of Armenia against development of Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit
Signatures collection against development of the Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit started in May, 2009. The First Lady of Armenia Rita Sargsyan joined 5,000 people and signed a letter claiming to stop preparatory works aimed at development of the Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit, Hrayr Savzyan, chairman of the 'EcoDar' public organization said at today's news conference. He stressed, that government permitted the ACPcompany to run the deposit in 2007 when Serzh Sargsyan was Armenia's prime minister.

'We understand the significance of country's economic development and opening of new work places, however, we demand from our authorities to implement such economic development policy that will take into account health and welfare of future generations, as well as the harm to the nature of our country', the letter, signed by 5000 citizens of Armenia, says. The letter will be sent to the Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisyan and National Assembly speaker Hovik Abrahamyan.
