At the 108th NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rose-Roth seminar in Yerevan, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said Armenia’s Ministry of Defense regularly receives specialized advisory assistance from France and the United States, with additional coordinated support from Greece, Sputnik Armenia reported.

He noted that reform priorities currently focus on:

• developing strategic documents under new models and standards,
• modernizing the structure and management of the Armed Forces,
• enhancing education and training capabilities,
• and related areas.

Papikyan stressed Armenia is also making major investments in equipping its armed forces with modern weapons and technology, made possible through government policy of diversifying supply markets.

“The transformation of the Armed Forces and the adoption of modern standards are aimed not only at creating a modern army but also at reaching interoperability with partner states’ armed forces,” Papikyan said.

Delegates from Azerbaijan and Turkey are also attending the Yerevan seminar, titled “Armenia and the South Caucasus in a Changing World: Strengthening Democracy and Regional Security.”
