EC President Jose Manuel Barroso to set for the second term
EU Commission present President Jose Manuel Barroso , says he will seek a new mandate from EU leaders at a summit in two weeks' time, he said at the press conference in Brussels, Reuters reports.

Former prime minister of Portugal, the 53-year old Jose Manuel Barroso holds the post of EU Commission President since November 2004. Currently Jose Manuel Barroso is the only officially announced candidate for the EU Commission presidency and enjoys support of the majority of leading EU countries.

He has a good chance of securing a second term following the return of a centre-right majority in the European Parliament elections. The parliament must approve any nomination put forward by the leaders of the member states.
