Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II did not visit Yerablur Military Pantheon on January 27, the national day of remembrance for those who died defending the homeland. The information was confirmed by Fr. Yesayi Artenyan, Director of the Information Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, according to Factor.am .

“A memorial service was held today at the Mother See,” Artenyan said.

When asked whether a visit was planned for January 28, the Armenian Army Day, Fr. Yesayi stated that no decision had been made as of now.

January 27 was established as the official Remembrance Day for Homeland Defenders based on a legislative initiative by Ruben Rubinyan of the Civil Contract faction and former Hayastan bloc MP Gegham Nazaryan.

Tributes are paid on this day to those who died during military operations across different years. According to reports, representatives of the top leadership may also refrain from visiting Yerablur on January 28.
