Vicken Euljeckjian, recently freed from Azerbaijani captivity, has been diagnosed with heart problems following a medical examination at a Yerevan clinic, according to his wife, Linda Euljeckjian, Sputnik Armenia reports.

Earlier, Linda said her husband’s condition had worsened in recent days, and he was experiencing neurological issues as well.

“It turned out that Vicken has heart issues—his blood vessels aren't ensuring proper circulation. He’s been prescribed medication, and doctors scheduled a follow-up on February 2,” she said.

Linda noted that he has completed all required tests, though some results are expected by Monday. She emphasized that stabilizing his heart condition and providing a calm environment are now the priorities.

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan also addressed the issue, noting that all returning detainees are under continuous oversight by state authorities, according to Pastinfo.

She confirmed that Vagif Khachatryan’s surgery was successful and he is now in the recovery phase.

“They remain under our close observation. All necessary medical care is provided by the state and coordinated by us,” Avanesyan said, adding she will visit them if circumstances allow.

On January 14, Azerbaijan transferred four detainees to Armenia: Davit Davtyan, Gevorg Sujyan, Vicken Euljeckjian, and Vagif Khachatryan. Lebanese-Armenian Vigen Euljekchyan was captured on November 10 near the road to Shushi and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Vagif Khachatryan, an elderly man, was taken captive in July 2023 near the Hakari Bridge while traveling from Artsakh to Armenia for medical treatment under ICRC escort. His condition deteriorated in late December 2025 while in a Baku prison, leading to his hospitalization.
