Georgian FM sees regional potential in dialogue

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said that the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia creates new opportunities for the region and gives it renewed relevance. She made the remarks during a panel discussion held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

According to her, Georgia, as a stable state, is building strategic relations with all its neighbors, APA reports.

“We are living in a period of change, which makes our region more significant. Georgia serves as a bridge between Europe and Asia and is important for the European Union. The issue of transport connectivity is of decisive importance. In this process, we are working jointly with our neighbors — Azerbaijan and Turkey,” the minister added.

On August 8, during a trilateral meeting at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed on the results of the Washington meeting.

In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed the “Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States.
