Armenia plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) courses for more than 80% of school students by 2026, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan said.

The minister presented the 2025 implementation report of the government’s 2021–2026 program in parliament, Sputnik Armenia reports.

According to Andreasyan, AI education programs are already operating in grades 10–12 in several schools.

One such program, initiated by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), involved around 800 students from 26 high schools.

Another initiative by the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies (UEICT) was implemented in 15 high schools.

“We are currently negotiating with the union to develop a universal AI course for schools,” the minister said.

Andreasyan also noted that the government has continued to finance the ArMath engineering laboratories program, where more than 16,000 children study in an extracurricular format in over 630 schools across Armenia.

The document was first discussed in parliamentary committees and is expected to be included in the agenda of a plenary session of the National Assembly.
