The National Democratic Union (NDU) will not participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to a statement by party chairman Vazgen Manukyan.
The party stressed the importance of preventing vote fragmentation during the elections and ensuring broad public participation.
“Elections are approaching, and although they are очередные, their significance is not ordinary. It is concerning that the opposition’s behavior resembles participation in routine elections. We have already seen what it means to approach elections in a routine manner.
Our party has proposed how the opposition should properly participate: to enter the elections with 2–3 political forces, united by a single manifesto outlining ideas and approaches that can serve as a counterbalance to Nikol Pashinyan’s destructive project.
This government has already exhausted itself. But if it is reproduced again as a result of the elections, we will gradually lose the pillars of our identity, our will, and the opportunity to have a prosperous, free, secure, and proudly advancing independent state, for which all prerequisites exist.
There are many political forces fighting against the authorities, offering different ways for our people to overcome this deep crisis and trying to prevent the reproduction of the current власти. We have been and remain part of this struggle, supporting those forces.
It is now crucial that there is no vote fragmentation during the elections and that the entire population participates.
In these elections, we see our mission not in running independently or joining already established viable political forces, but in helping those forces implement their programs—namely, to lead Armenia onto a path of development,” the statement said.
The party called on its members and supporters to actively back opposition forces whose views align with NDU’s positions, including independence, sovereignty, security, the Artsakh issue, internal governance, and coordinated work of the Armenian state with global Armenian institutions.
It also noted that opposition victory is possible.
“Regardless of the election results, NDU will continue to fight for the realization of its ideas,” the statement added.
