Armenia expects good and very good results from its weightlifters at the European Championship, said Armenian Weightlifting Federation President Arayik Harutyunyan, reports Armenpress.
“Essentially, very little time remains until the European Championship. By following the training sessions and reports, we see that we are well prepared. It is very important that the moral and psychological condition in both teams, as well as among juniors and youth, is very good. I believe that psychologically, this serves as an additional incentive to achieve strong results. And we expect good and very good outcomes from our athletes at the European Championship,” he said.
He emphasized that the teams are tasked at a minimum with maintaining and demonstrating the best results achieved in recent years.
“I think we can deliver strong results, considering how the preparation process is progressing and the good performances our athletes are showing in training,” Harutyunyan added.
These days, Armenia’s men’s and women’s national teams are holding their final training camps in Yerevan ahead of the European Championship, scheduled to take place in Batumi from April 19 to 26.
The Armenian Weightlifting Federation reported that women’s team head coach Artashes Nersisyan told journalists: “This is our final training camp, after which we will depart for Batumi on April 16. The responsibility is very high because we are competing with a full team, as last year. The training camps have gone very well, and there are no injuries. The most important thing is for the athletes to perform at their maximum potential. We will never miss the chance to win medals.”
According to him, the team approaches the competition fully prepared and aims to secure maximum results.
Member of Armenia’s women’s team Liana Gyurjyan also highlighted the team’s high morale.
“Our expectations are very high. I believe we can perform at our best and win medals. As a team, we support each other both in difficult moments and in achievements. I am confident that we will all succeed in winning medals,” she said.
Men’s team head coach Hakob Pilosyan stated that the team is in good shape and has no injuries.
He stressed that the athletes are fully ready for competition and determined to achieve strong results.
Member of Armenia’s men’s team Rafik Harutyunyan said: “This is the final phase of our preparation. We are fully ready for the competition. We are heading to the tournament with a fighting spirit. I feel even better on the competition platform. I will try to improve my lifted weights. There is no tension in the team, and most athletes are experienced.”
