The Corruption Prevention Commission has sent a notice to the leader of the Strong Armenia party Samvel Karapetyan, as well as party council members Narek Karapetyan, Gohar Meloyan, Aleksan Aleksanyan, and Davit Ghazinyan, reminding them of their obligation to submit asset declarations.
It was noted that after assuming their positions as party chairman and council members, they were required by law to file declarations within one month, but this requirement has not been fulfilled, Factor.am reports.
The commission informed them that if they fail to submit declarations within 30 days, they will be summoned to the commission to draw up administrative violation protocols.
Declarations may be submitted either personally or through a representative.
“Failure to submit a declaration within 30 days after receiving the notification entails an administrative penalty (fine) envisaged by law — in the amount of 200 times the minimum wage (200,000 drams). Failure to comply within 30 days after the application of administrative liability may lead to criminal responsibility,” the commission’s notice states.
The notification was sent to the leadership of the Strong Armenia party on April 13.
Earlier, Karapetyan’s lawyer had appealed to the commission, stating the impossibility of submitting the declaration due to his house arrest and restrictions on correspondence. The matter is currently under review.
Karapetyan became a defendant in June 2025 after stating he would defend the Armenian Apostolic Church “in his own way.” He spent seven months in detention at the Yerevan-Center penitentiary and is currently under house arrest. In addition to charges of public calls to seize power, he is also accused of money laundering.
