Olympic silver medalist, two-time European and world champion Varazdat Lalayan has won his third gold medal at the European Championships.
On the final competition day of the European Championships underway in Batumi, Georgia, the super heavyweight weightlifters entered the contest. Armenian team member Varazdat Lalayan lifted 200 kg and 210 kg in the snatch. He placed first in this discipline. He was again first in the clean and jerk, lifting 241 kg. With a 451 kg total, Varazdat Lalayan became a three-time European Championships gold medalist, Armenpress reports.
Earlier, Emma Poghosyan and Garik Karapetyan won gold medals for Armenia at the European Championships, while Garnik Cholakyan, Aleksandra Grigoryan, Gor Sahakyan, and Ara Aghanyan won silver medals. Martin Poghosyan won a bronze medal.
Anna Amroyan also won gold in the clean and jerk, while Liana Gyurjyan won silver.
