
Vahe Hoveyan (80 kg) has become the champion of the European U17 Wrestling Championships. The 15-year-old athlete defeated his Hungarian opponent 8-0 in just one minute in the Greco-Roman final to win the gold medal.
Earlier, Aleksan Shaljyan (92 kg) beat Azerbaijan's Zohrab Safarov 6-0 in the semifinals and advanced to the championship final, Sputnik Armenia reported.
Zaven Mezhlumyan (65 kg) lost 3-6 to Russia’s Aslan Dzuev in the final and won a silver medal, while Gegham Yeghiazaryan (55 kg) and Ararat Avetisyan (48 kg) claimed bronze medals.
The European Under-17 Wrestling Championships are being held in Samokov, Bulgaria, from May 11 to 17. Freestyle wrestlers will compete on May 15.
