
The official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Nepal took place, Armenia’s embassy in India reported.
In his speech at the event, Armenian Ambassador Vahagn Afyan, highly praising the work of Armenia’s Honorary Consul in Nepal Kiran Malla, referred to the rich ancient civilizational, historical and cultural heritage of both countries, as well as promising opportunities for expanding cooperation in tourism, education, information technologies, trade, investment, agriculture, renewable energy and culture.
Afyan also noted that the two countries are dynamically developing cooperation within international organizations, where Armenia and Nepal continue to support constructive dialogue, peaceful coexistence, sustainable development and mutual respect among nations.
During a reception organized the same day, the Armenian ambassador, referring to the importance of cooperation between countries that value independence, sovereignty and peaceful development amid rapidly changing international conditions, expressed hope that the honorary consulate would serve as a platform for promoting stronger institutional ties and supporting various initiatives, contributing to further strengthening friendship between the two peoples.
Nepalese Foreign Ministry representative and head of the protocol department Kumar Raj Kharel and Armenia’s honorary consul also addressed the future role of the office and the potential for establishing closer cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
Among the similarities between the two countries, speakers highlighted their ancient civilizations, vibrant democracies, strategic crossroads locations and active participation in international peacekeeping missions.
The evening was attended by Chief of the Nepalese Army General Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel. Representatives of Nepal’s government, diplomatic corps, business community and media were also present.
