The Prosperous Armenia Party wants good relations with Iran, the U.S., Russia, China and all countries that can contribute to guaranteed peace, party spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan said in response to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks about party leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
“Once again, Nikol Pashinyan, who restarted negotiations from zero and derailed the 26-year negotiation process, has declared himself a pioneer of foreign diplomacy and commented on Gagik Tsarukyan’s statement mentioning Pakistan among the countries capable of guaranteeing peace,” she wrote on Facebook.
During a campaign event in Nor Nork, Pashinyan said: “Gago Tsarukyan has started engaging in geopolitical analysis. Listen, what business is that of yours? Do you think the people of Armenia have forgotten your real name? Only the penitentiary service will be able to guarantee your security.”
Tonoyan noted that Gagik Tsarukyan mentioned Pakistan alongside many other influential powers, including the U.S., Russia and China.
“Second, perhaps your countless advisers forgot to report to you that Pakistan was precisely the main mediator that stopped the Iranian-American war unfolding in our neighboring and brotherly Iran and brought peace. Pakistan, being a nuclear power, has significant influence over Azerbaijan and can play a serious role in preventing a new war and restraining Azerbaijan’s aggressive actions. In addition, the Republic of Armenia only recently established diplomatic relations with Pakistan, apparently understanding the importance of maintaining diplomatic communication channels even with complicated countries.
International experience shows that sometimes it is precisely the strategic partners of one side that can prevent the most dangerous military adventurism and restrain the most radical approaches.
Armenia’s main priority must remain the security of the state through all effective diplomatic and international mechanisms.
Yes, we want good relations with Iran, the U.S., Russia, China and all countries that can contribute to implementing our vision of guaranteed peace, where the absolute priority will be Armenia and Armenia’s security.
For us, diplomacy is not adventurism, when one thing is said during important international negotiations and something entirely different is said later in Armenia,” Tonoyan stated.
The election campaign, which began on May 8, will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, while elections will be held on June 7.
