Inter is nearing an agreement on a contract extension with former Armenia captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sky Sports journalist Di Marzio reported.
According to the report, the Armenian footballer expressed a strong desire to remain in Milan for another season and has already given his approval to the club. Head coach Cristian Chivu has also asked for Mkhitaryan to remain part of the Inter squad, Radar Armenia wrote.
The two sides must now discuss the financial terms of the contract.
The report was also confirmed by prominent insider Fabrizio Romano, who said Henrikh Mkhitaryan has agreed to extend his contract with Inter and will continue playing for the Milan club, Factor.am reported.
Mkhitaryan had considered retiring from football, but accepted head coach Cristian Chivu’s request and decided to stay with the team.
Since joining Inter in 2022, Mkhitaryan has won the Italian league title twice, as well as two Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups, while also reaching the UEFA Champions League final twice. He recently claimed the 28th title of his career. This season, the Armenian midfielder has played 39 matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
