Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a briefing with journalists at the Civil Contract headquarters after the announcement of the election results that his priorities remain unchanged and that “opposition leaders must face criminal responsibility.”
“Robert Kocharyan will go to prison, Samvel Karapetyan will go to prison, Gagik Tsarukyan will go to prison,” Pashinyan declared, according to Haykakan Zhamanak.
Pashinyan repeatedly stated that the opposition would not be able to generate post-election developments.
“The three-headed force of war employed vote-buying and other mechanisms, and there was a response,” the prime minister said, referring to published recordings and the arrests that had taken place.
He added that the opposition does not represent different political forces but rather “a single three-headed party of war,” whose leaders are each involved in separate well-known cases and whose activities, he said, should remain the focus of law enforcement agencies.
According to the results of the regular National Assembly elections, four political forces will be represented in the new parliament: Civil Contract, the Strong Armenia Alliance, the Armenia Alliance, and the Prosperous Armenia Party. The mandates are distributed as follows: Civil Contract — 61 seats, Strong Armenia Alliance — 28 seats, Armenia Alliance — 11 seats, and Prosperous Armenia Party — 5 seats.
