Republic Party urges to dissolve bribery-linked parties

The Republic Party has stated that if the Anti-Corruption Committee’s application to the Ministry of Justice and related court claims are substantiated, “the parties that distributed bribes should be dissolved,” and their top three candidates should be barred from running for office for 10 years.

In its statement, the party also addressed Armenia’s economic relations with Russia and the European Union.

“Clearly seeking to influence Armenia’s domestic political processes, Russia has imposed restrictions on Armenian goods, creating a difficult situation for Armenian producers. At a critical moment, European Union countries extended a helping hand.

The only viable solution to the current situation is to withdraw from the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union and sign the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and the Association Agreement with the European Union. This is also the desire of the overwhelming majority of the public, which we have articulated. Therefore, our statement is open for other political forces to join and may be regarded as a public demand,” the statement said.

The party argued that deeper integration with the European Union would provide a long-term response to the economic challenges arising from recent trade restrictions.

The chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee has appealed to the Minister of Justice with a proposal to initiate stricter legislation aimed at combating electoral crimes.
