Mkhitaryan leaves mark at Pyunik Hall of Fame

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the all-time leading scorer and former captain of Armenia’s national football team, as well as a midfielder for Inter Milan, left his handprint and footprint near the Tree of Glory at FC Pyunik, the club said on its Facebook page.

Before the ceremony began, Mkhitaryan paid tribute to the memory of his father, Hamlet Mkhitaryan. Those in attendance observed a minute of silence in honor of one of the most prominent figures in Armenian football.

At Pyunik’s training base, he met with young footballers and academy players. Mkhitaryan began his professional football career at Pyunik.

He also stated that he would try to continue playing for one more year, according to RFE/RL.

“I will try to play for one more year, and then I will understand whether it is time to end my career or not, and what I would like to do next. I still cannot say what I will do because I have not thought about it yet. There are many opportunities, but I need to choose the best one for myself,” Mkhitaryan said.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan announced his retirement from Armenia’s national team in March 2022.
