Armenia's economic activity rises 11.7%

In May 2026, Armenia's Economic Activity Index (EAI) increased by 11.7% compared with the same month a year earlier and by 9.9% compared with the previous month.

Compared with May 2025, the main sectors of the economy recorded the following changes: construction expanded by 27.1%, services grew by 14.7%, industry increased by 9.5%, while trade turnover remained unchanged.

In May 2026, Armenia's foreign trade turnover declined by 5.3% year-on-year. Exports fell by 11.5%, while imports decreased by 1.6%, according to the Armenian government.

During the same period, consumer inflation in Armenia reached 4.2% compared with a year earlier, the government said.

Russia has imposed restrictions on imports of several Armenian products. These include bans on imports of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages. Restrictions have also been introduced on a number of agricultural products, including tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries. Since June 2, Russia has restricted imports and transit to other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states of cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits from Armenia. Since June 3, Russia has also restricted imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating from Armenia.
