The Constitutional Court is continuing its review of challenges to the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections, including a petition filed by the Prosperous Armenia Party.
The party has also submitted a motion concerning the transparency of ballot envelopes, Factor.am reports.
"We have submitted our motion and the accompanying documents to the High Court, and they have also been distributed electronically to all participants in the proceedings. The documents include media publications showing ballot papers placed inside the envelopes and demonstrating how transparent those envelopes are. In the presence of such envelopes, Your Honors, I maintain that it is impossible to guarantee the secrecy of the vote. If an election has not been conducted by secret ballot, then it cannot, at the very least, be regarded as an election that complies with the constitutional requirements governing the electoral process in Armenia," the Prosperous Armenia Party's representative said.
Petitions requesting the Constitutional Court to invalidate the election results or order a second round were filed by the Strong Armenia Alliance, the New Force Reformist Party, the For the Republic Party, the Prosperous Armenia Party, the Wings of Unity Party, the Democracy, Law, Discipline Party, and the Hayastan Alliance.
