Beginning July 10, individuals will be prohibited from exporting more than 5 kilograms of agricultural products from Armenia, the Food Safety Inspectorate announced.
The agency said the restriction is based on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technical regulations, which prohibit individuals from exporting commercially sized consignments of goods subject to phytosanitary control.
Under the rules, the total weight of phytosanitary products transported by individuals for personal use may not exceed 5 kilograms.
The inspectorate urged businesses and citizens to organize exports strictly in accordance with the established requirements and to clarify in advance the phytosanitary regulations applicable to the products they intend to export.
The agency added that it will continue inspections and provide guidance to exporters to ensure full compliance with phytosanitary safety standards and export requirements.
Since June 2, Russia has restricted imports of cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits from Armenia, as well as their transit to other member states of the EAEU. Since June 3, Russia has also imposed restrictions on imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating from and exported by Armenia.
