ARMENIAN SCIENTISTS INVENTED NEW GENERATION LIGHTING FACILITIES FIVE TIMES MORE EFFICIENT THAN PRESENT ANALOGUES
The scientists of the Institute of Problems of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia have invented new generation lighting devices, which are five times more efficient than their present analogues. As Director of the Institute Alpik Mkrtchian told "Arminfo" agency correspondent, the new devices of the Armenian scientists have a number of advantages compared to the available analogues. Spectral distribution of their radiation maximally approaches the solar radiation, thus letting view subjects in their natural colors. The technology is very simple, so the prime cost in case of serial production can be much less than that of the devices being produced today. At the same time they consume much less electric power. According to the estimates of the Institute specialists, the apparatus will let increase illumination of Yerevan streets five times while using the same amount of electricity. The lighting devices developed by the Institute of Problems of Applied Physics may become widely adopted to illuminate shooting areas, settlement streets, airport landing strips and other areas. Experimental patterns are being assembled in the Institute laboratories, and the Institute staff intends to present the first consignment to the town of Meghri.
