Turkey should be a step ahead of Armenia in Armenia-Turkey relations

In Armenia-Turkey relations Turkey should be a step ahead of Armenia, Robert Wexler, a former U.S. congressman and the former chairperson of the Caucus on U.S.-Turkish Relations at the Congress said, Turkish media reported. Currently the head of a think-tank S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace, Wexler said Turkey should assume its "one-step ahead" strategy it assumed towards Cyprus issue, in its relations with Armenia. Wexler appreciated Turkish and Armenian governments' steps towards normalization of relations.

Robert Wexler called on the U.S. Congress and the administration to refuse form any rash steps in recognizing the Armenian Genocide, adding that the discussion of the Armenian Genocide resolution in the Congress not only does not help but hinder the current Armenia-Turkey raproacment.
