The heads of leading Armenian American organizations have sent a letter to George Bush with claim to refrain from the attempts to repeal Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. It is stressed in the letter that the Section is a key element of U.S. policy in the Caucasus and important instrument of stability in the region. The leaders of Armenian community of America have noted that the restrictions, imposed on Azerbaijan, are against the blockade of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, have played a key role in deterring Azerbaijani aggression. "We have been extremely troubled by recent steps taken by the Administration and certain members of the Congress to weaken, repeal or waive this law. Entire Armenian-American community is united in this perspective, feels very deeply about these issues and will be extraordinary disappointed in your Administration if Section 907 is weakened, repealed or waived" is stated in the letter. The document is signed by 17 religious, cultural, political and humanitarian organizations.
